2015 Grammys: Was Rihanna A Little TOO Pretty In Pink?

2015 Grammys: Was Rihanna A Little TOO Pretty In Pink?

On a red carpet wall to wall with exposed (or escapee) bosoms, Rihanna ensured an show-stopping entrance by opting for something A.) completely different and B.) surprisingly covered up. For her 2015 Grammys appearance RiRi took an about turn on last year’s semi-nudist tack. Been there, got the t-shirt. Or took the t-shirt off. Whatever. She already freed the nips well before this lot even approached a scaredy-cat side-boob – but where do you sartorially go once you’ve been swathed in see-through crystal mesh and a fur stole in order to pick up your style icon award at the CFDAs? Well, you dress up in this: a gigantic, froth-tacular, straight-off-the-couture-runway creation from Giambattista Valli, of course.

In the most saccharine shade of shocking pink, featuring tiered tulle, silver embellished trim on an empire line bust and with more princess potential that the Duchess of Cambridge locked inside Disneyland, this was a dress that certainly didn’t mess. Maybe not the most ideal frock for getting on down, but then RiRi knew she had an outfit change just around the corner – a loose-fit, sharp tux for her performance of Fourfiveseconds with Kanye and Sir Paul McCartney.

It was only two weeks ago that the couturiers in Giambattista’s studio will have finalised the last stitch and ruffle on this gown before it hit the catwalk in Paris. How lucky can one girl be?

Of course, no radical choice like this ever goes completely unnoticed by the meme-artists out in force on the Internet. RiRi has been visually compared to a toilet roll holder, a Dominican cake decoration, Barbie, a pink Pac Man, a fancy umbrella-ella-ella-eh-eh-eh and a My Super Sweet 16 teen with a dream.

What’s your verdict? Riri-lly good? Or a totally wipe out?
