With cold weather and Covid 19, it’s clear that the real party starts at home right now. The idea of a bustling bar or chic cocktails into the early hours of the morning are feeling like long-forgotten memories at the moment. But with plans for nightclubs to reopen on June 21, and beer gardens even sooner on April 12, normality seems to be on the horizon.
While we wait for the day we can order a cosmo and have a boogie, we've thought of a few ways to bring the party to our home, from creating your own mini bar to virtual raves – we've got you covered.
The last year has taught us that we can turn anything into a party. From quiz nights over Zoom to tablescaping for even the most mundane of meals, it’s not the event that matters, it’s the attitude.
So why not upgrade your at-home bar from that half empty bottle of Malibu lingering at the back of the cupboard to your very own cocktail cart? Cocktail carts, or bar carts, are available in a wide range of styles and prices but you really can’t go wrong with vintage. When styling a bar cart, kitsch accessories are the way to go – think pineapple cocktail shakers and cut glass tumblers.
More of a minimalist? A cocktail cupboard is a great way to hold all your party essentials while being neatly tucked away.
Of course, it definitely wouldn’t be a party without the right outfit and one of the best things about a houseparty is that you can never be too dressed up. Velvet slippers, satin housecoats and OTT dresses may be slightly too much for your local but at home, you’re in charge of the dress code – we say channel your inner Liz Taylor.
Scroll down for the best buys and get the party started. Cheers to that.
