After New York, London and Milan, it's little wonder our feet were feeling exhausted - and so it was that even the most dedicated stiletto wearers hit Paris Fashion Week armed with an array of flat shoes. But while trainers and Converse had adorned the streets of LFW, in the French capital, nothing but the chicest of footwear would do. As we continued our street style mission, Grazia Daily spotted a swarm of ladylike brogues, embellished ballet pumps, shiny loafers and dainty slippers in blues and greens. Yes, flats are here to stay.
Everyone from the FROWing A-list - we're talking Olivia Palermo and Leigh Lezark - to top-notch editors turned to the joys of flats, leaving their towering heels back at the hotel. As well as for comfort after the fashion week marathon, the trend was inspired bythe Autumn Winter 2014 catwalks themselves. The shoes that Simone Rocha created this season, for example, are anything but ordinary thanks to fluffy slipper-esque creations and gold lace-up brogues, Victoria Beckham's severely mannish flats are ultra-fashion forward while Erdem's foxy black flats are a good after dark alternative.
And let's not forget the clompy creepers which are still proving popular. We saw stacked lace-ups on the catwalk this season courtesy of Giles as well as on the front row. Meanwhile, girly girls were wearing bow-clad boots and pretty party flats fit for a princess. But it seems that sneakers are still all the rage - and if Karl Lagerfeld can put them on the Chanel catwalk, you know it's time to dip your toe in.
Either way, there's no doubt a flat is a confident and modern look that works as a great buffer for more extravagant looks, short hemlines and fancy evening wear. See our favourite flat moments at Paris Fashion Week in the gallery above and click play below for more street chic...
