At the risk of slipping into hyperbole, we feel compelled to inform you that last night we met actual Angelina Jolie on the red carpet at the London Unbroken premiere. We exchanged words and eye contact, our souls interacted on a very deep and spiritual level and NOTHING will ever be the same again.

Angelina walked the red carpet flanked by a fleet of Armed Forces members, wearing Ralph & Russo, and told us what it would mean to receive an Oscar nomination. ‘Oh, gosh. It would mean a great deal to me, to be honest’, she said. ‘I love directing, and most of all I felt very responsible to this man’s story and this man’s life, so anything that says I did a good job would mean the world to me.’ Hopefully now we're on familiar terms she'll take us as her plus one to the ceremony.

Angelina also spoke about how her second career as a director came about, after she decided to shoot the Land of Blood and Honey, a drama set during the Bosnian conflict, in 2011. 'I never knew I could direct or waned to direct until a few years ago, and I became a director by default’, she revealed. 'I had written something and it was sensitive material and I just didn't want to hand it over. So I volunteered myself, but I didn't think I'd love it, I didn't think I'd be any good at it, I just tried to do my best. And I would never ever have imagined that I would be in a position to do a film like this, of this scale and what I feel is very important.'

On the red carpet Angelina said about working with Brad Pitt on By The Sea: "He's so wonderful to work with, it's a little independent film and is very heavy about marriage and life so it's nice for us to just be actors together and work hard and really push each other.

Unbroken comes out on Boxing Day, so you’ll be able to see for yourself what all the fuss is about then...
