Sportswear and loungewear are pretty much all we can muster at the moment, but if your workout leggings and hoodie game is anything like ours, it could do with a little bit of a rebrand right about now. Enter Willow Smith, the new brand ambassador for Japanese fashion brand Onitsuka Tiger, whose impressively high kicks, and sleek take on separates, is already making us feel more inspired.
The label is often inspired by sportswear and, for SS21, took as its starting point, 'The Onitsuka Tiger Attitude.' Designed in a glass-half-full colour palette of buttercup, turquoise and lilac (which appears as a flash alongside scarlet on hi-top trainers) mixed with plenty of wear-with-anything black, these coats, shorts and dresses are where fashion meets performance-wear.
Smith wears the collared black coat, made from a thick nylon twill, tightly cinched over the white shirt dress, a combination that would definitely blow whatever ribbed leggings and baggy jumper combo you're wearing to walk around the park every morning right out of the water. When spring arrives, it's time to throw on a sunflower-coloured tank dress that swooshes to your ankle - or just the brightest, most optimistic garment in your wardrobe - with hi-top trainers guaranteed to put a spring in your step.
That mix is what Onitsuka Tiger, master of combining fashion with sports, heritage and innovation, does so well.
