Mulberry has named Thierry Andretta as their new chief executive officer.
The fashion designer has previously held positions at Lanvin, Moschino, Gucci, LVMH, Céline and Italian jewellery brand, Buccellati. Andretta began working at Mulberry as an independent non-executive director in June, but will begin his new role on 7th April 2015.
Andretta will work alongside Johnny Coca, the brand’s new creative director who starts on 8th July. Formerly the accessories designer at Céline, Johnny has now filled the role that had been vacant since Emma Hill left the brand in 2013.
"I am delighted that Thierry has agreed to become chief executive.” “Mulberry's chairman, Godfrey David said. “He has a wealth of fashion and luxury goods experience and an ability to drive our ambitious plans for international growth. In parallel with recruiting our new creative director, Johnny Coca, we undertook an extensive search and concluded that Thierry was the outstanding CEO candidate."
Andretta has said that he is "delighted" to be joining the Mulberry team."Mulberry is a truly authentic British brand with a unique manufacturing base in the UK. The brand has great international potential and I look forward to building the business with Godfrey, Johnny, the rest of the team and the board” he said."I am delighted to become chief executive after nearly a year as a non-executive director."
Since Emma left Mulberry in 2013, following disputes with Mulberry management over "creative and operational strategy”, the collections have been produced collaboratively by their design team.
