If you follow fashion influencer and stylist Monikh Dale you'll know that throughout the pandemic she's been busy serving some excellent lockdown looks.
From perfect summer dresses to great co-ords and brilliant knits, Monikh hasn't let Covid-19 kill her outfit inspiration and she continues to provide inspiration for#WFHfits and re-entry life. This is why her brand new edit for Amazon Fashion is so exciting – it's an easy way to get a slice of her flawless style, and an affordable one at that.
Monikh has hand selected an edit of her favourite spring/summer essentials, from Birkenstock sandals to printed dresses. It's perfect for those who want to emulate her effortless looks, while re-embracing the joy that is getting dressed again.
After a year in lockdown, Monikh says, 'Just enjoy it. Fashion is meant to be fun, so try not to think too much about trends/what the girls are wearing, just grab your feel good dress and have a nice day. For me, a piece like The printed maxi does that for me.'
Monikh's inspiration for her edit was based on her everyday vibe. She said, 'I love pieces that I can mix and match to create various different looks from like the jumpsuit, it's easily layered up for colder nights. It’s all about shopping better, looking at items as forever pieces and not just one offs.' Of course, that's a great way to approach shopping in general as we all make the effort to shop more sustainably.
One of Monikh's forever pieces is a simple white dress. 'It's my secret weapon' she says, and added, 'the white linen shirt dress from my edit (bought in a size up), paired with a basket bag and chunky Birkenstocks, it just oozes effortlessness.'
Monikh's experiences in styling stems from her degree in Fashion Design, which has proven very handy when altering her own clothes. 'At 5’1 I often try on items that are way too long for me either on the body or full length, so being able to quickly take something up opens up so many more styles for me,' she says. But for those of us that aren't so sewing-savvy, Monikh suggests looking up a good seamstress at your local dry cleaners and 'always remember the power of a good belt - loop it around you, billow out the top to flow more, maybe even grab a few safely pins and set something where you need it. This is clever styling.'
Whether you are off on a staycation or picnic in the park, add these pieces to your wardrobe, guaranteed to see you through the season. And keep an eye out for the beige safari shirt dress, which is Monikh's favourite. 'It’s so simple and timeless, and you can dress it so many different ways,' she says.
