Miu Miu trainers (especially that New Balance collab) generally sell out quicker than Labubu restocks. Highly anticipated by fashion editors and influencers alike, the instantly recognisable brown suede sneakers are a prized possession. But what gives them that Miu Miu touch is the two-tone bright, bold laces mismatched with the leather laces. Lucky enough to have got hold of a pair before they sold out in almost every size? Well done. If not, then I have some news that’s bound to get you as excited as I was when I found out.

Miu Miu sells the laces separately to its iconic trainers, so you can shop all colours (orange and burgundy are a firm favourite) along with the leather iterations for £45 each. So basically, you can style up your own trainers with the original Miu Miu laces to give them that designer vibe every fashion person loves.

The Miu Miu cord laces come in two-tone green, orange and burgundy (the most popular colours) as well as brown, pink and yellow. So you can customise your trainers with your favourite shade.

In beige, mustard, blue or green, you could also add in the leather styles with the two-tone to get the full Miu Miu vibe that fashion people are wearing.

So, what made me go on the hunt to find this styling hack? New Balance just launched its brand new silhouette for 2025, the 204L, and the sleek pair in a mushroom shade is so similar to the sell-out Miu Miu x New Balance collab styles, that the £120 iteration also sold out within minutes. You can, of course, still get them on specialist sneaker sites for way more than the RRP, so I’ve linked them below in case you want to splurge to still get them. If not, then you can easily use my Miu Miu lace hack to update any trainers you already own.

With brown suede trainers (I love this COS pair) being key this year, and this colour and texture being most similar to the designer version, I would recommend doing the double lace trick – you need to add two sets of laces on each shoe, instead of the one (as seen above) – to channel Miu Miu. So easy, yet so effective. Ready to try it yourself? Once you've got the laces, you'll no doubt want to add them to these pairs from the likes of Puma, Adidas and Aloha. Shop before these sell out too.
