Has having a momager ever worked out well for anyone other than Kim Kardashian? Spoiler: no, no it hasn’t.

The latest celebrity to fall foul of having a mum as her manager is Mischa Barton, who has sued her mother Nuala, claiming that she stole money from her and damaged her reputation.

In a lawsuit filed on Tuesday in Los Angeles, Mischa alleges that Nuala kicked her out of a multimillion-dollar Beverly Hills home that was purchased with money earned while she was a child actress.

The $7.8 million home was bought by Mischa’s mum in 2006. According to the lawsuit, she gave herself an ownership interest in the property, and has since barred Mischa from the house.

Nuala has managed Mischa through-out her career, with the law suit claiming that: ‘While Barton was busy perfecting her craft and turning her acting dreams into reality, her mother, defendant Nuala Barton, was secretly scheming to exploit Barton's bourgeoning career for her benefit.’

It goes on to allege that Nuala has withheld royalties, and lied about the amount her daughter was paid so that she could steal the difference. The lawsuit also contends that some of Mischa’s endorsements were entered without her permission, and that she wasn't properly paid for the use of her name and likeness in connection with a handbag line and a London boutique.
