Meghan Markle's pregnancy style has come a long way since her first pregnancy with son Archie. The months leading up to Archie’s birth in May 2019 included overseas tours to Australia, New Zealand and Fiji in 2018, alongside numerous appearances here in the UK and a particularly infamous appearance on the stage at The Fashion Awards wearing Givenchy.
The Duchess of Sussex was frequently spotted donning a mixture of glamorous gowns as well as more pared-back looks like simple denim jeans paired with shirts. But whether entirely clad in Victoria Beckham, Oscar de la Renta or even H&M, she certainly knows how to celebrate her pregnancy in style.
Block Colours
Meghan favours a colour palette that involves lots of navy, beige and green - like this understated, yet elegant ensemble when visiting Smart Works:
There was also a particularly popular £29 Aritzia purple dress that the Duchess re-wore for different royal engagements whilst pregnant with Archie and, afterwards, to attend the One World Summit.
Floaty Silhouettes
The newlyweds concluded their three-day royal tour of Morocco in 2019 and Meghan wore the most gorgeous look of the whole trip. Her custom Carolina Herrera blue gown looked right at home in Mohammed VI of Morocco's royal palace.
Since the couple first announced they were expecting baby no.2 (exactly 37 years to the date that Princess Diana announced her pregnancy with Prince Harry) Meghan has made a few appearances and, following their relocation to California, Harry and Meghan have embraced a different way of life that has been reflected in Meghan's relaxed style.
The Announcement Dress
A pregnant Meghan, whose baby is due this summer, was photographed with her husband by Misan Harriman. The photo revealed the first glimpse of Meghan's bump as she wore a custom Wes Gordon for Carolina Herrera dress. The choice was a sustainable one from the Duchess, as Gordon had made her the dress during her first pregnancy.
Carlifornia Style
While Markle favoured vibrant block colours and graphic prints during her first pregnancy — like the chain design by Victoria Beckham she wore for her final appearance before Archie’s birth — this time around she's taken a palette of softer shades and florals, reflective of her new Californian surroundings.
Photographed again by Harriman, this time while carrying Archie, Meghan wore a palm-printed maxi dress with a shirred bodice and puff sleeves from La Ligne.
The Oprah Interview
For their tell-all interview with Oprah, Meghan wore a black pleated gown with white embroidered flowers by Giorgio Armani, paired with some simple black shoes.
Zoom Attire
Famous not only for her commitment to sustainable style and enviable dresses, Markle is also great at dressing down - seen here in a simple shirt with loose hair.
In honor of Black History Month, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex dropped into the@getlitpoet class to hear the kids recite their poems and have a discussion with them. Their visit was so life changing that the founder of the program said, 'One student wrote in the chat, ‘Invite Beyoncé next time because I’m confident now. Meghan knows my name.’'
