Meghan Markle’s a fan. So is Angelina Jolie. It’s the anti-trend brand with a sustainable ethos at its centre. Meet Everlane, for those of you not already acquainted with this US brand.
During Meghan's time as a 'Senior Royal', one of the many causes she championed was supporting ethical fashion brands. As well as her classic Everlane tote bag - which she sported on her first official appearance with Prince Harry at the Invictus Games back in September 2017 - this 'throw on and go' jumpsuit from the sustainable brand accompanied her on the royal tour around Africa.
Meghan wore the all-in-one in 2019 when she visited The Woodstock Exchange in Cape Town to meet with women entrepreneurs working in technology, and paired it with a sleek ponytail, statement earrings and co-ordinating Manolo's.
The jumpsuit has since had a summer update, featuring a flattering square neck, tie waist and loose, lounge-worthy linen, and now comes in five different colour ways - making it the perfect payday buy for the warmer weather creeping in. This versatile piece can be worn layered over your fave tee with sandals for weekends, or dressed up with heels in true Markle spirit. It's also comfy enough to serve as an ideal working from home outfit. And that's all we can really ask for right now.

Everlane, The Linen Square-Neck Jumpsuit, £72
California-based, with six US stores and a website that ships internationally, Everlane prides itself on being as open and transparent with customers as possible. It has an interactive map of all its factories, where users can find out how many people work in each and what materials they’re using, while every product has a breakdown of its costs, including materials, hardware, labor, duties and transport. Even if you’ve never been particularly interested in the provenance of your clothes, it makes for fascinating reading when you can see how much, say, a sweatshirt actually costs to make (£11.27) compared to its mark up at traditional retailers (£59).
And don’t think the clothes are in any way mundane. You won’t find shouty It pieces or outlandish trends, but what you will find is timeless classics that will stand the test of time. Its Performance Leggings, made of waste from industrial production of virgin nylon, are super sleek and half the price of similar products at £45, while its supersized puffer coatis made from recycled polyester with a recycled down and feather filling.
Having said it’s an anti-trend brand, its shoes do have something of a cult following. Meghan and Angelina have both worn its Editor Slingback, while fashion editors are partial to its Chelsea-style rubber boot.
No shopping is guilt-free, but Everlane comes (pretty) close.
