UPDATE: Hurrah! The Marques' Almeida x Topshop collection is now officially shoppable! You can check it out online at Topshop.com and click to purchase this very second... we'll race you to the denim!
When young design duo Marques’Almeida first presented savagely torn denim head-to-toe on the London Fashion Week circuit two years ago, they were strides ahead of the trend game. Fast-forward to now and their signature shredded jean tops, dresses and trousers don’t stay on the shelves longer than a few hours. Marta (Marques) and Paulo (Almeida) have become the in crowd’s closely guarded go-to for – and that club runs full spectrum, with everyone from Rihanna to fashion consultant Yasmin Sewell. However, with a Topshop collaboration dropping into stores on 9 Oct (check it out in the above gallery), the pair’s relatively under-the-radar status is about to be blown to smithereens.

Following in the impressive footsteps of J.W. Anderson, Mary Katantzou and Jonathan Saunders, this 68-piece high street line-up reads like a overview of the Portuguese duo’s biggest hits thus far: so in addition to the denim-fest you’ll other noughties twists, like tractor-sole mules, spaghetti-strap slips, leather long-line coats and rave-neon chiffon.

‘What we always wanted to do was create an image through clothes that was real, about the girl, the attitude… the clothes that we, and our friends, would want to wear that didn’t exist yet,’ explains the duo. Fortunately they came to our wardrobe’s rescue and they’re continuing to keep the proceedings as real as their very cool clothes, by choosing Marta’s sister Sofia as the poster girl for the collection. But that doesn’t mean RiRi won’t be snapping at your heels to get the full range first – so form a queue for the almighty Marques’Almeida now.
Check back soon for the entire hose-down of the full collection before it drops in store and online on 9 Oct...
