Mere moments after the final girl exited the Louis Vuitton runway a very exciting email popped into our inboxes: the autumn/winter 2015 lookbook. This is unorthodox behaviour for a big fashion brand; you’ll usually find lookbook production and distribution occurs months down the line. But Nicolas Ghesquière quite obviously knows the power of cementing a look, so with trusty photographer Juergen Teller, a selection of cherry picked models (who also featured in the show) and layout design led by M/M Paris, the mood, vision and key looks for his season have been made crystal clear.
Entitled Ladies at the Bath, Teller photographed the fresh faced crew in advance of the big day in Paris at Hotel Raphael and the LV headquarters; sometimes in full ready-to-go ensembles, sometimes during a girl’s quotidian rituals – like models caught mid hair-drying up or in plain white undies, pre-outfit. Blemishes and natural hair are integral to the concept that these are real (and really cool) girls wearing great clothes and looking comfortable in them.
Each look and shot feels extremely personal and that’s the aim. The lookbook reads: ‘[A fashion collection is] an inventory that embraces everything: a solemn past, a fertile present and the inevitably dreamlike future. A collection is a travel diary. It’s an open-ended journey into the world that reflects the daring paths of the spirit. It’s a sentimental adventure made of scattered inspirations and great aspirations. And it has only one means of locomotion: intuition.’ Our intuition? BUY BUY BUY.
