The Liv Tyler for Belstaff Collection launched today and we’re already wishing away the summer so we can start our winter wardrobe shopping right now.
Her capsule collection includes outerwear, clothing, shoes and accessories and she’s gone big on the military trend, which is set to be huge for AW16. Describing her inspiration, Liv said she wanted the range to reflect her wardrobe staples.
Working with Belstaff’s creative director Delphine Ninous, Liv put together the items based on ‘the things I really wanted and needed in my closet: the perfect military coat, a great cape, a knee-high lace-up riding boot, my favourite bag’. Don’t we all?!
While curating the collection, Liv says she went through the brand’s archives to pull out her favourite pieces and capture the spirit of Belstaff.
‘One of the things I really love and wanted to emphasize was the combination of masculine and feminine. I wanted to express strength through the outerwear and leather pieces alongside a more feminine sensual side through the softer materials like silk, and via the more fitted silhouettes of my styles,’ she told journalists at the launch.
We know what you’re thinking – Belstaff and Liv Tyler? Really?! At first it sounds like an unusual pairing – a British heritage label and Hollywood rock progeny, how does that even work? In fact, Belstaff’s luxurious take on classics like motorcycle jackets and leather boots encapsulate Liv’s edgy but classic style to a tee and we just can’t get enough of it.
Coats account for more than two thirds of the collection – good news for us Brits staring a bleak Blighty winter in the face – and luckily they are the kind of coats you’ll wear forever; classic, well-tailored and made with quality fabrics that’ll withstand anything. Unlike some other celeb collabs, this is a collection that’s actually rooted in practicality and packed with stuff you might actually wear on a rainy morning commute to work.
We’ve been not-so-secretly stalking Liv on Instagram ever since the announcement and we’re happy to report that her post pregnancy wardrobe (she recently gave birth to her third child, Lula Rose) is as fabulous as ever.
