After Marie Kondo-ing our wardrobes we’ve been struck by how little joy we get from wearing all-black. After fighting a tough war against clutter we’ve been left with a handful of neutrals and a dauntingly bright selection of joy-sparking clothes. Luckily, our favourite street style savants must have had the same epiphany as they’ve begun wearing the most fantastically vivid colour combinations.

Last year Pantone predicted that ‘ultra violet’ was the fantastic follow-up hue to millennial pink. It was a shade so dramatically future-facing it’s taken a full year for our favourite celebrities to integrate it into their lives.
After Lady Gaga got the ball rolling at the Golden Globes in early January we’ve witnessed a non-stop parade of lilac from the likes of Cardi B, Khloe Kardashian and even Samuel L Jackson. It wasn’t long before the influencer set followed suit.
But, lilac isn’t the only shade shaking things up this January. With fashion week on the horizon, we're expecting a slew of new unorthodox colour mash-ups to be the real conversation starters. Following the pattern already laid out by influencers and celebrities, violet will be the base shade teamed with everything from lime to neon and caramel to tan. Cardi B wore head-to-toe lavender with a mini lemon Birkin bag while Camille Charriere teamed her tie-dye lilac shorts with mustard.
