For those of us planning to holiday somewhere in this green and pleasant land over the summer, warm jackets and walking boots will probably be more useful than sandals and swimsuits. Kate Middleton has just provided inspiration for both, as well as wearing a ruffle-neck blouse that is still available for £119 from Brora, on day two of the royal tour to Scotland.
Arriving at Stromness' European Marine Energy Centre, Middleton wore a more lo-fi look than earlier in the day, with her favourite khaki jacket from Seeland, and suede lace-up boots from See by Chloé. Her exact pair is sold out, but a very similar style with a cosy layer of shearling is still available for £365, and will definitely come in handy if you're planning to mosey around the countryside as opposed to scaling a mountain. The delicate drop earrings are from a fine jewellery based in Edinburgh, Hamilton & Inches, which she also wore earlier that day to visit the new hospital in Orkney.
But although you can only see the blouse's ruffled neck, rest assured that it's the perfect thing for this decidedly 'meh' weather. The Dobby cotton blouse has sweet yet subtle frills at the sleeves and collar, and is covered with little textured dots. It's selling point is that you can either wear it alone or just as easily pop it under a pair of denim dungarees or a cashmere jumper like Middleton.
