Julien said to Grazia Daily about his inspiration: "It's an ocean of beauty, serene, glistening sun and then underneath the ocean buried treasure. Every mermaid looks for her dream man and when she sings she lures a tattoed man into the ocean. Hence the tattoos mixed with flowers and mermaids. She's a siren."
As predicted his Spring Summer 2015 collection was packed with 'red carpet' floor-sweepers - you watching Katy Perry? "These clothes are a celebrations of a woman's body," Julien said to Grazia Daily. "The bum is the new it thing in fashion - if you have a bum, now is time to get it out. It was the boobs, but now it's the bum. Probably started by Kim Kardashian."
We went backstage before the show to bring you all the details on the clothes, makeup, hair and model antics...
The THREE million pound wedding dress...
This season Julien gave us two bridal looks. First up was the "beach bride" - a ruffled short dress with a long flowing lace veil. Then came the 'Julien Maconald' show-stopper. "The wedding dress is over three MILLION pounds with real diamonds and a real ocean pearl that's embroidered into the dress," Julien told us after the show. "So it's all the treasures from the bottom of the ocean." Who would he love to see wearing it? "Nicole Scherzinger."
The signature Julien Macdonald sparkle...
The show was at the Royal Opera House, so the hair and makeup took place under enormous sparkling chandeliers. You don't get more Julien Macdonald than that.
Hollie May Saker's lesson in how to take the perfect model selfie...
Backstage we chatted to model Hollie May Saker who gave us her selfie tips: never ever smile. Ever. Pouting = cheekbones. She'd only had three hous sleep and told us she relies on Embryolisse and Jurlique rose water products to stay looking fresh. When it comes to her fashion week diet she skips the green juices for cheesburger. She said: "I just eat MacDonalds - I had Macdonalds this morning, Macdonalds last night. It's my favourite place - when I go there I'm like 'ah, I'm home.'
The beauty look explained...
For the makeup, Val Garland gave us a metallic smokey eye, using L'Oreal ParisColor Riche mono eyeshadow in Gold Mania across the eye with Little Gold Dress in the corners. For the skin the aim was "beautiful moist skin" using Nude Magique Eau de Teint and a bit of blush. An apricot lip was applied in the centre of the lip.
James Pecis created the "mermaid hair" (also using L'Oreal Paris products). He created a clean 90s look with slicked back hair using gel, with the hair secured to the nape using an elastic thread to match the girls hair. The two brides had a different look with a braid and lace applied using tape.
Charlotte Wiggins' beauty secrets...
Brit top model Charlotte Wiggins (who will always be to us the girl who starred in that Romeo Beckham Burberry campaign), told us she has a simple beauty regime just using a Clarins 7-day scrub and moisturiser. So how much sleep does a top model really get at fashion week? She said: "Last night I had four and a half hours. Yesterday I had fourteen castings in one day - I had a car which was lovely. I met a girl who said she had 32. I think I've probably made maybe 12, but that's going till the very early hours."
