Inside Jonathan Ross's A-List Halloween Party
By Emma Spedding Posted on 28 Nov 2014
It’s a Halloween tradition that celebrities flock to, adored by Kate Moss (although not anymore, awkward) and supposedly the party of the year: it’s Jonathan Ross’s Halloween party. The antithesis a Kardashian Halloween, celebrities turned out in actual scary costumes this year, from David Walliam’s surprising realistic villain side to Jimmy Carr’s very lifelike Goosebumps costume.
In previous years, Jonathan has transformed his chateau into a haunted house for the festivities, with a giant pumpkin with Simon Cowell’s face greeting guests on arrival. The Mirror reports that instead of musical chairs, guests play a game where they line up in order of fame when the music stops. If Jonathan doesn’t like the line up he then orders the loser to be pictured less by the paparazzi on their departure. Hilarious.
Of course, here at Grazia were putting fame aside for a second to rate the best Halloween costume on effort alone. We’re thinking Ashley James might have stolen it for us this year…

Where was Kate Moss at Jonathan Ross’s Halloween party?
Typically, every year Kate is transformed by her fashion fairy godfather Sam McKnight to attend Jonathan Ross’s annual legendary party. Previously, she channelled Morticia Addams with Croydon’s finest cheekbones covered in lashings of white face paint with a blood red pout, framed by a jet-black wig. We weren’t sure this look could be topped.
Then she called upon Sam McKnight again to transform her into the ‘The Skeleton Lady’ with a white face, black stitched up lips, lace black detailing around her eyes. As for the hair she worked a black wig and layers of black netting. For the clothes she wore a black ruffled gown with red rose embroidery and black fishnets at the bodice. Her husband at the time, Jamie Hince, went matchy matchy with Mossy with his n’ hers facepaint, wearing a black fedora hat and a fringed waistcoat. This Day of the Dead costume is competing with the Miley Cyrus’ ‘twerk or treat’ look for the most popular costume of the year - remember Sandra Bullock was a ‘Skeleton Lady’ last week.
Our favourite though? When she dressed up as model friend Cara Delevigne in 2014, complete with white powder on her nose. Yes, seriously.
This year though, she was surprisingly absent from Ross’s Halloween party, instead attending Rita Ora’s reviving her Moritica Addams costume from 2012. Considering the celebrities were slightly more A-list (Queen Rihanna was there), we’re not perplexed as to why she chose to give Rita’s party a go this year…
