Exclusive: Joan Smalls On How She Gets In Shape For The Victoria’s Secret Show

**Last night London was invaded by a flock of angels, as the Victoria's Secret show was staged in London for the very first time at Earl's Court. We are bringing you all the angel updates with every catwalk look, Instagram snaps and our live coverage of the event. Plus we went behind the pink curtain before the show to catch up with the angels before they put on their wings. We talked to Karlie Kloss about what it's like to be BFFs with Taylor Swift and Jourdan Dunn on how she plans on taking the angels to, err, Nandos. We also chatted to the lovely Joan Smalls about how she gets in angel shape...

Grazia Daily: What does it feel like to be one of the girls walking the runway?

Joan: "It feels so amazing. I was saying last night you grew up looking at Victoria's Secrets and the show and you see the girls having so much fun and the performances and to be a part of it is like 'wow' - a realisation that that dream came true and you're part of that whole mission that takes so long and is so anticipated. It's the show everybody watches. It's that yearly fashion show that is so important - it's in every home and i don't know how many countries. It's nerve-wracking but exciting."

Grazia Daily: Does it feel like a class reunion?

Joan: "It feels a little bit like a class reunion with all your best friends and riding with them on the plane and seeing them on the plane. That's something we don't normally get to do because our schedules are all over the place so nice to catch up right before the holidays. To have good laughs and create amazing memories."

Grazia Daily: In terms of preparation are you always angel ready or does it take something extra special?

Joan: "I always believe in being ready, I don't think you should get ready last minute. It's putting your body through a crash course which I don't think is a healthy way of doing things. I have a spinal condition, scoliousis, so it requires me to always be in shape and have my core muscles toned and protect my back. But when the show is coming I go the extra mile and make sure my routines are different. I do three different routines - I'll do kick boxing, I have my personal trainer and I'll do reformer pilates. I do all those three alternate, work out on my own and go for a jog. Its making sure you stay active and have fun doing it and not over stressing it because that might create the anxiety. Just chill!"

Grazia Daily: The show is in London for first time. What do you think about it being here?

Joan: "I love London! I love coming here every time - I think the people are great and I love the humour. London is a city where the fashion is so spunky and people are more daring and free about expression. For it to be here is embracing all that. I was happy it was moving from New York - you get so used to it and it's a different energy and crowd and feels almost brand new. It's a twist of Victoria's Secret."

Grazia Daily: How are you feeling after BFAs?

Joan: "I'm feeling great! Was so much fun, that was my first British awards ever and it had such a great energy and such a good crowd and I got to present with Karlie for model of the year so that was fun."

Grazia Daily: What do you think of Cara's success?

Joan: "I'm so happy for her. It's good to see your friends do so well and to have their dreams come true is really amazing. I'm just supportive of her and she's so lovely."
