Woah! Did Jennifer Aniston just say something nice about her arch-nemesis Angelina Jolie? They’ve been pitted against each other as enemies ever since Angelina ran off with Jen’s then husband Brad Pitt in 2005 after meeting on the set of Mr & Mrs Smith. And to date, they’ve only ever publically been seen in the same room twice – once and the 2009 Oscars, the second time being only last week at the Critics’ Choice Awards, where they were sat three tables apart.
But now Jennifer Aniston has spoken out, seemingly burying the hatchet on their ten-year feud, saying in an interview that she thinks Angelina did a ‘gorgeous job’ of directing Unbroken. We still can’t believe she even paid to go see it, never mind admitted she actually liked it.
Jennifer, 45, told Entertainment Tonight, ‘I mean, that movie is so beautiful and wonderful, and she did such a gorgeous job.’ She also dismissed speculation that they avoided each other at the Critics’ Choice Awards. ‘I think it's time people stop with that petty B.S. and just start celebrating great work and stop with the petty kind of silliness. I think that’s slowly coming to an end. I really do. It’s just tiresome and old. It’s like an old leather shoe. Let’s buy a new pair of shiny shoes.’
Quite a development, given that the last time Jennifer spoke about Angelina publically was in 2008 when she called her ‘uncool’ for admitting in an interview that she had fallen in love with Brad on the set of Mr & Mrs Smith, when he was still married to her.
Do we sense a group photo some day soon of Brad, Angelina, Jen and Justin Theroux at an event together? Probably not. But we really hope that Angelina now feels the urge to have her say on the matter...
Jen has also spoken about her Oscar snub. After weeks of campaigning for her role in gritty drama Cake, Jen has admitted that losing out on a Best Actress nom for the Academy Awards was ‘almost just as good’. She told the Huffington Post, ‘I was amazed at how many messages of “Shocked!” “F**k 'em!” and “Robbed!” I got. I found it quite endearing and flattering that I had so many people rooting for me. It was almost just as good to be number one snubbed than to be nominated. Now I don't have any pressure.’
Of her fiancé of two years, Justin, she said, ‘I have a level of ease right now in my life. I have an unbelievable partner who supports me and loves me and makes me feel like there's nothing I cannot do. There is something about having a partner who supports you that kind of allows you to have a real “f**k-it” attitude. I gotta just go for everything, cause if I fall down on my face, I got my buddy right here to dust me off and say let's keep going.’
