Jennifer Aniston's back catalogue is packed with rom-com classics including The Break Up and Horrible Bosses, but the actress is set to do a Charlize Theron with her new indie film Cake. It's been dubbed her Monster.
The trailer for Cake has just been released giving us a first look at her performance. She plays Claire Simmons, a woman suffering from chronic pain who becomes obsessed with the suicide of a woman in her support group. Jen goes make-up free and scarred, and even in the 2.28 minutes we can see why the O-Word (Oscars) is being thrown around.
The film received a standing ovation when it premiered at the Toronto Film Festival and is expected to be her career re-defining role. Is she excited by all this Oscars talk or does she try to block out the hype? Jennifer told *Grazia *on the red carpet earlier this month: 'You can't help but listen to it - it's very humbling and flattering and it makes you jitter from the inside out. It's a lot of things. But mainly I'm so happy people are receiving the film - it makes me very happy, we're so proud of it.'
Jennifer said at a screening last week: 'I'd never been asked to do a part like this. I'm coming into a time in my life where I felt really ready to get challenged and see where I could go. I've been doing this for 25 years and I want this opportunity for myself creatively because you get very stuck and you can get stereotyped.'
As for her make-under, Jennifer said: 'I stopped working out and I stopped being as careful about my diet as I normally am; I was still healthy, but I'd allow more.'
