What an incredible event Wednesday night was! For those of you that couldn’t join us (and a massive thanks for the crowds of you that did) we put on a swanky soiree alongside Diane von Furstenberg at their Bruton Street store to celebrate our 10th Birthday and the launch of their new S/S’15 collection.
As well as spying the latest clothes, we nibbled on canapé’s and sipped champagne whilst we caught up with the two wonderful co-hosts Global Brand Ambassador (and winner of House of DVF on E!) Brittany Hampton and style editor, Jessica Joffe. What a treat!
Along with offering up some savvy styling advice and posing in DVF’s very own glittery photo booth (natch) Brittany gave us the inside scoop on what it was really like filming the House of DVF. “People tend to think that reality TV isn’t reality. And the reality is, it is! The producers and E! love to pull your personality out of you. So if you portray yourself as a certain person that’s what’s going to come across. You’ve got 8 girls in a competition fighting for one position. Girls get feisty! You might not like everyone, but you learn to work with it. “
One of the true stars of the programme was of course Diane von Furstenburg herself, who came across as the caring, strong and passionate über boss. Amanda continues “It’s funny because we all know in episode 5 & 6 I was that feisty little girl who couldn’t control herself. But every girl learns something, and whether it’s from Diane or your mum, you learn how to humble yourself. Diane is that woman. She’s the one that you tell everything to. Whether it’s your secrets about you boyfriend or your arguments with your best friend she’ll sit and listen to you. She’s the person who will advise you on any situation. And she cares! She was totally inspirational.”
With season one now infamous for it’s feisty females and high intensity drama, what can we expect from the season two? Jessica gave us the inside scoop,
“It’s very different. With the first season we had these really big characters. No one really knew what they were getting into and it was a bit of an experiment. This time around we travel a lot more with the girls and there are some really cool people on the show. The girls are very relatable and they’re actually people that one would think are qualified for the position.“ Exciting stuff!
So does Brittany have any wise words of advice for the newest contestants? “Be yourself. I learned the most from being myself. No matter what I was never fake on the show. If I felt like I needed to cry, I’d cry. If I felt like I was mad, I was mad. If you’re yourself you’re going to learn more.”
So there you have it. Season two is set to hit E! later this year and we’re sure it’ll be a series not to be missed. Stay tuned!
