Inside Dolce & Gabbana’s Alta Moda Show In Capri. WARNING: So Glam, You May Faint

Thought Couture Fashion Week was done and dusted with the last of the shows in Paris? How wrong you are! Dolce and Gabbana’s Alta Moda presentation – which has become the ultra-luxurious branch on this already quite fabulous fashion tree – was a spectacular experience so rich, we could happily dine off the imagery for the forseeable future.

In Capri the designer duo hosted a molto glamorous, al fresco catwalk show at dusk, where models and guests stepped off boats and onto the rocky seashore runway. Front row onlookers describe it as breathtaking, magical and stunning: just a quick look at Instagram shows how the heavenly Fontanilla Beach location and dramatic gowns played together in complete sundown synchronicity.

Like something out of a costume drama of the highest order, sweeping hand-painted striped skirts were wildly print-clashed against Elizabethan floral bodices and girls like Kinga Rajzak and Hollie May Saker had their couture creations topped off with chandelier earrings, golden crowns upon their precise centre partings and beautifully sun-kissed skin.

But these pretty princess weren’t all ballgowns and old fashioned glamour: Dolce and Gabbana can sail their spirited woman through the ancient faraglioni and into the modern world with unexpected combinations of fur snowboots and micro shorts, Capri pants layered under retro tunics and terry towelling two-sies styled with a parasol for good, extra look-at-me, measure. Spanning seamlessly across decades and centuries (like many of this week’s couture shows) Dolce’s Alta Moda collection can surely claim to be the ultimate travelling wardrobe for the kind of woman whose primary mode of transport is private jet.
