The weather has gone from dismal AF to nearly-a-heatwave. And while we wait to see how it's going to balance itself out, it won't stop us from embracing garden party vibes. You see, the English country garden seemed to loom large on the catwalks for spring/summer. There were gorgeously puffed sleeves and satin neckties at Erdem; the prettiest of blossom prints at Preen by Thornton Bregazzi and supersized, and butter-wouldn’t-melt sweet, hair bows at Emilia Wickstead.
The demure Miss Walker’s costumes on Gentleman Jack - ballooned-sleeved dresses in sugared almond shades - are also tickling our fancy. The message is clear - the kind of outfit you might put together for a picnic on Hampstead Heath or a game of croquet feels bang on trend for now, come rain or come shine. And it finally looks like there might be some shine on the horizon - hallelujah! - with temperatures reaching an almost-too-balmy 29 by the weekend.
There's more good news. The high street hasn’t failed to deliver on the English gentlewoman front, with more gingham checks than you could shake a picnic blanket at, and plenty of raffia accessories to offset flouncy pastel skirts and crisp white blouses. Don’t shop until you’ll scrolled our gallery below - and remember to cross your fingers that the fair weather continues.
