Straw bags for summer are essentially the same as a chunky scarf for winter - an essential. These intricate, woven basket bags are a staple as old as time, well, as old as Jane Birkin herself, and have been worn pretty much every summer since she was continuously spotted with one in the 70s. And if H&M (and Prada) have anything to do with it, we're all going to be wearing straw bags this summer too.

Designer bags can easily become a cult item, just look at styles like Loewe's puzzle, Bottega's cassette and Prada's Cleo style. And when it comes to Prada, there's one style that's been stealing the show for the last couple of years (and no, it's not the Cleo or Nylon Re-edition). It's the Crochet Tote bag.

Inspired by the timeless elegance of Prada's iconic designs, these straw bags capture the essence of summer sophistication at a fraction of the cost. H&M's new bags bring the essence of the Italian fashion house to your everyday wardrobe, allowing you to indulge in high fashion without compromising on style (or budget).

Worn with summer dresses, swimwear and every summer look going, this roomy carry-everything Prada style is now iconic. And while it's back for 2024, the style in question will set you back a cool (or rather not so cool) £1,500! Luckily, H&M is here to the rescue with a designer dupe that's just as good as the real deal.

For a slightly bigger straw tote, this H&M shopper is great for holding larger items. We say larger items because it's unlined, so if you want to avoid anything falling out, add a mini or makeup bag inside.

Do straw bags last?

With proper care and maintenance, straw bags can last years and years. While they might not have the same longevity as bags made from more durable materials like leather, straw bags are surprisingly resilient (even if you've stuffed them full with your beach towels). To extend the life of your straw bag, it's important to avoid exposing it to water, as this may cause the straw to weaken or become misshapen over time.

Where are Prada bags made?

Prada is an Italian fashion house, but their bags aren't just explicitly made there. Prada has manufacturing facilities all over the globe (including Italy) and allows the brand to leverage the expertise and skills from artisans from around the world. Of course each bag maintains Prada's classic style and superior craftsmanship, whether it's made in Italy or not.
