Believe it or not, autumn/winter 2018 collections are dropping in store this week. It may be mid-August but high street retailers are already looking towards the new season. And, if you ask me, I couldn’t be happier. After a long heat wave peppered summer, my linen dresses and sandals are as exhausted as I am of them.
To be fair, the weather has already turned. We’re now experiencing that tricky seasonal transition when a coat (and umbrella!) are necessary but bare legs and open-toe shoes are still acceptable. Call it the magic hour of fashion, when summer and fall collide and everything takes on a warmer glow.
There are plenty of items already in-store that will see you through to next spring, like Monki’s clawed hair clip and H&M’s leather trench. With so many glorious pieces dropping this week it’s imperative that you’re precise and concise with your edit. Otherwise, you’ll be spending next month cancelling plans and cutting back on the takeout coffees. Choose pieces that will ease your wardrobe into the coming season, like a polo neck from Zara that can be slipped under a cotton dress, or a pair of Mango boots that will step up your current denim hoard.
