Klarna is on a quest to dispel the myths that have slowly emerged from their curious critics.
For those who aren’t too familiar with the digital payment platform yet, Klarna provides shoppers with the option to buy now and pay later. In many ways, it’s almost like a ‘try before you buy’ service.
And there are lots of other benefits to it, too.
For example, it gives you the flexibility to spread the cost of a purchase over three instalments, or you can have up to 30 days to pay for an item after it has been shipped with no fees, interest, or impact on your credit score.
All of these little perks make it an incredible shopping platform that allows you to get the things that you need and pay for them as you want.
But somewhere along the way, people seemed to get a little bit confused about Klarna. And it’s time to clear the air.
Partnering with the famous artist Ignasi Monreal, known for his work on brands like Gucci, the popular pink name is setting the record straight through a series of seven magical paintings based around the brand’s most fantastical misconceptions.
And here, in the same vein, we’ve picked out (and corrected) five of the most common Klarna myths.
Myth 1: “Klarna sounds like a period product”
The Truth: Actually, Klarna is a licensed Swedish bank that operates in 19 markets globally. The Swedish translation of ‘Klarna’ is ‘clear’, and, tbh, it’s what we all wish our banks were.
Myth 2: “Klarna is a tyrant targeting the innocent youth”
The Truth: Only over-18s allowed! The average savvy shopper is 33-years-old, while Klarna has also discovered a growing age group in their 50s, meaning millennials are spreading the word to their mums, dads, aunties, grandparents…
Myth 3: “Klarna is ‘too pink’ and weird to be trustworthy”
The Truth: What’s wrong with a little pink? We’re all a little fed up of seeing the traditional sea of blue in the banking world – not only is Klarna pink, it’s also one of Europe’s biggest banks.
Myth 4: “Klarna tricks you into thinking you’re not spending real money”
The Truth: There’s no fogginess here. Klarna displays the payment breakdown and the due dates before you even click ‘add to bag’. You have the option to see how much you will be paying in three equal monthly instalments with no interest, fees or impact on your credit score, so it will leave you more time to budget effectively and spend that ‘real money’.
Myth 5: “Klarna is just for fashionistas”
The Truth: Truth is, you can find lots of things. Even though they do have a huge range of fashion merchants, you can also use Klarna at over 13,000 UK retailers which range from beauty and travel to animals and pet products. With a cool 14 million customers, Klarna has something for everybody, whether that’s fashion brands, exercise bikes or even lawnmowers.
Please spend responsibly, borrowing more than you can afford could seriously affect your financial status. Make sure you can afford to make your monthly repayments on time. 18+ T&C’s apply. Klarna Bank offers both regulated and unregulated products. Klarna’s Pay in 3 instalments is not regulated by the FCA.
