It’s a strange sensation to reminisce about something that hasn’t happened yet, but that’s the feeling we’re already getting when we think about the summer that’s ahead of us. The good times, they are a-coming (and they can’t come quickly enough, let’s be honest). It’s this idea of sentimentality mixed with excitement that is also the foundation for Coach’s new collection – making it the perfect attire for all those adventures yet to be had.
“Our Pre Fall collection is inspired by a sense of nostalgia, freedom and anticipation – feelings that I associate with summer,” says Coach’s Creative Director Stuart Vevers. “I imagined the collection with new adventures in mind, exploring craft and Coach’s heritage with the fresh attitude of sportswear.”
This remix of sportswear is one of the many things that we love about the new range. Long-sleeved tops with branded stripes down the arms, cycling style shorts in gym kit red, bucket hats and slinky little vests not only capture that keen 90s vibe, but also bring to mind times spent with friends, memory-making and long days spent out in the sunshine.
But it’s not all about sports. Coach have juxtaposed these slick athletic codes with a sense of kitsch. High-neck day dress in muted patterns, ruffled knitwear, pretty little skirts and broderie anglaise trims bring a sense of wistfulness and softness. Played off against the sportier options, it feels sweet without being saccharine.
And of course, there are the bags. Spot the freshly-debuted Coach Originals Quilties, a selection of chic bags from Coach’s extensive archive that have been reimagined in supple nappa leather as well as on-trend denim jacquard. It’s this ability to transform the classic into the contemporary that perfectly encapsulates this collection’s sense of looking back while being excited for what’s ahead.
When it comes to summer 2021, there’s already that feeling in the air that anything could happen. And with that in mind, we’re going to follow the words emblazoned across one of our favourite t-shirts in the Pre Fall collection and ‘Dream On’ about all the good times lying in wait.
