The Italian writer and George have been good friends for years - in 2007 Veltroni presented the Hollywood star with a prestigious Peace Summit Award for his work on Human Rights in Darfur. George has previously revealed that when it comes to getting ready he’s a wash and go kind of guy. ‘I'm the least metrosexual cat you've ever met. I've never had my fingernails or toenails done, and I've cut my own hair longer than other people have cut my hair,' he said, 'On an awards-show day, I can play basketball, go in, take a shower and put on a tux — it takes me three minutes to put on a tux — and be out the door in 15 minutes.’ Looks like they won’t be fighting for mirror space on their big day then.
18th September: All the latest updates on the Clooney Wedding
Amal Alamuddin [Rex]
With the big day fast-approaching Grazia has been hearing lots of juicy details about what George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin have planned for their Venice nuptials. An A-list guest list? You betcha! Italian tenor? Well, when in Rome... or, um, Venice. So ahead of the wedding - said to be on September 29th- here's a run down of the most recent rumours.
1) It's going to be boozy
George's friend Rande Gerber has been pictured boarding a private jet with at least 50 cases of Casamigos tequila. Yep 50. George and Rande own the Casamigos brand so we're sure they got a good deal.
2) An intimate affair
Instead of inviting half of Hollywood recent reports say the guest list has been whittled down to just 60 people. Apparently Matt Damon and wife Luciana will be there along with Rande and wife Cindy Crawford.
3) Fusion food
Guests will enjoy both Lebanese and Italian dishes, according to the most recent reports. Amal was born in Lebanon so the food will pay homage to her heritage and the local cuisine.
4) Hitting the high notes
It seems George and Amal are copying Kimye in more ways than one. As well as choosing Italy as their country of choice for the wedding they are also said to be having Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli serenading them too. Andrea performed as Kim Kardashian became Mrs Kanye West earlier this year.

5) Who is footing the bill?
While George is said to be worth a whopping £125million ($160m) Amal's family is said to be paying for most of the wedding.
6) McQueen dream
Amal looks likely to be wearing Alexander McQueen on the big day. She was spotted leaving the label's London Headquarters earlier this month for a last minute fitting. If it's good enough for K-Middy and Amal is marrying showbiz royalty after all.
8) It's Giorgio for George
While Amal appears to have chosen McQueen, groom George and his groomsmen will be kitted out in Giorgio Armani it seems. The design team were spied visiting Clooney’s Lake Como estate last month.
9) Wedding weekender
Why have just one party when you can stretch out the celebrations? Amal and George are said to be having a casual dinner on September 26 at the Hotel Cipriani before the ceremony the following Monday. We'd milk it too.
