Summer’s been a total washout so far, but you shouldn’t let that dampen your festival spirit. Living in Britain, after all, means a waterproof is your default outerwear setting; you’re more comfortable in wellies than flip-flops and sunglasses get used, more often than not, to keep driving rain out of your eyes instead of anything resembling a ray.
Whether you’re pitching your tent at Glasto, or going to Secret Garden Party, the point is to think positive and dress for the weather you want this festival season. The tie-dye trend is showing no signs of showing down. Choose accessories splashed with swirls of the stuff - a bucket hat won’t let you down come rain or shine - or perhaps a patterned hoodie that you can pull on for midnight dancing.
An easy way to quickly ‘festival’ your wardrobe is with pretty add-ons. Anna + Nina has plenty of puka shell chokers with pastel-coloured beads, while Anni Lu’s gold and pearl earrings will make any outfit say ‘summer-ready’. A cross-body or bum bag, meanwhile, is essential. Look for something in a durable fabric - Arket’s Camera bag is made of water-resistant nylon - and sunshine-bright shade.
Footwear is where it gets slightly more tricky. Fila’s track-soled metallic sliders are all kinds of fabulous, but might not survive a muddy pool. Just sayin’. Save them for when the ground looks either grassy or sun-baked and stick to your Hunter Chelsea welly boots in the meantime. Also, nothing offsets rubberised shoes quite like a dash of sequins. Zara's short suit or spangled gold mini get our vote.
