The countdown to the 19th annual Victoria’s Secret fashion show is ON and details are slowly but surely trickling in to amp up the anticipation. The annual invitation-only event is coming to London for the first time EVER and all the glitz and gloss of the Angels will be rolling into the Earls Court Exhibition Centre on 2nd December. That's NEXT Tuesday people.
Here's a roundup of the juicy details we have so far...
1. The show will feature more outfits than ever before
There'll be a whooping 79 looks hitting the catwalk, in comparison with 69 for last year’s event.
2. ...and more models
Forget the measly 40 stunners who were recruited in 2013! This time, we'll see no less than 47 winged angels.
3. Not one but two Dream Angels Fantasy Bras will appear on the catwalk
VS are pulling out the big guns this time round by unveiling a double whammy of Fantasy Bras. Considering the bras are worth a cool $2 million each and are a mix of rubies, diamonds, sapphires and 18-karat gold, that's no mean feat. They'll be modeled by veteran Victoria’s Secret Angels Alessandra Ambrosio and Adriana Lima.
4. There's a black-tie dress code
All guests will be required to dress to the nines in keeping with the show’s theme, which is loosely based on Truman Capote’s famous Black and White Ball in Manhattan in 1966. Faaabulous!
5. The runway will be divided into six different style categories
And those categories are: Gilded Angels, Exotic Traveler, Dream Girl, Fairy Tale, University of Pink and Angel Ball.
6. Lily Donaldson's outfit is the main Swarovski spectacle
Swarovski crystals will adorn no less than 29 runway looks, but Lily's has been unveiled as the glitziest. See the sneak preview of the jewel-encrusted purple-winged fairy ensemble below. Appearing in the Fairy Tale portion, it's comprised of 150,000 Swarovski crystals and is estimated to weigh about 40 pounds. One wing alone took FIVE. HOURS. to make.
7. Serkan Cura is behind the show's looks
For the second year running, the Parisian designer has designed the looks for the show. “In my couture shows, you can do some things, but you have rules,” he told WWD. “But here, you say, ‘Can we make this?’ And [Victoria’s Secret] says, ‘Sure, what do you want?’ It’s all about your vision. We are here to dream, to see something completely different. It’s 60 minutes of showtime, but you go somewhere.…You’re transported. Voilà.”
8. The VS team also consists of these two power women
Sophia Neophitou is the editor-in-chief of 10 Magazine as well as creative director at Antonio Berardi, Roland Mouret, and Elie Saab and has been creative director of the lingerie giant for the last three years so it's no surprise to hear she's bringing her magic to the the 2014 extravaganza. Meanwhile Monica Mitro - aka: Victoria’s Secret executive vice president and the Mother Angel - is once again the show’s executive producer.
9. The casting process is as rigorous as ever
The bar is always set super high for both veteran Victoria’s Secret Angels and newer faces. "All of the girls are like, athletes — it’s pretty crazy,” Lily tells WWD. “I definitely eat healthier. It’s a good incentive. You almost want to have the show twice a year, so that you have this goal to be as fit as you possibly can. It’s a good goal to have.”
10. Lily Donaldson still gets nervous
Lily's still terrified of falling over, despite it being her fifth time walking the show, although she's excited that the event is coming to her hometown. The 27-year-old Brit said, “It always felt so detached from England — you don’t really have things like this in England. But I think [London’s] going to really embrace it. I think it’s going to be a kind of crazy thing over there.”
11. The performers
This year's dream team of performers includes... drumroll please... Ed Sheeran, Ariana Grande and Taylor Swift. Joan Smalls said to E! she hoped there would be a repeat performance from Taylor: "I would like to see Taylor Swift because she has that new album. That's like blowing anybody else out of the water. So I could see that happening."
12. The pre-show work outs**

Victoria's Secret have created a special hashtag for the pre-show work outs - #TrainLikeAnAngel.
