Elle Fanning is using her role as Sleeping Beauty as an excuse to dress like a Disney princess IRL. This weekend Elle arrived at Japan airport on her* Maleficent* duties in an oversized t shirt covered in a magical illustration of sleeping beauty. WANT.
She carried on the Aurora look on the red carpet at the Japan premiere of Maleficent wearing a sheer Alexander McQueen Fall 2014 gown with billowing peasant sleeves and a feathered hem. The fairytale theme is emphasised with delicate moon and star embroidery.

This isn't the first time that Elle has got into character and done an Aurora on her promo tour. It all started when she wore Charlotte Olympia's Sleeping Beauty heels to a photo call in Paris. Then on the Late Show with David Letterman she wore a sugary pink satin Vivienne Westwood dress with a draped Cinderella-esque skirt. Talk about method acting.

Of course a red carpet is the perfect place for Elle to twirl around in a sweeping princess gown. At the LA premiere Elle wore a blue Elie Saab Couture embellished gown with off-the-shoulder sleeves - it's the image of Aurora's iconic blue gown. For the London party at Kensington Palace Elle wore a strapless Georges Hobeika custard-coloured beaded gown with a full ball skirt. She upped the princess with a crown of flowers around a high bun, with pink ribbons falling down her back.*
Elle said in an interview: "When I was little people asked 'what do you want to be when you grow up?' and I said a Disney princess because that's what every girl wants. To be able to say that actually happened is so unreal."

Elle Fanning said to Grazia about her role in Maleficent: ‘I couldn’t believe it when I got the part. I made myself feel sick on the car journey home because I couldn’t stop reading the script. I’ll never forget meeting Angelina for the first time. We were doing rehearsals and everyone was like “Angelina’s here” I freaked out, but when she arrived she was just a lady in jeans. She gave me a big hug and said “we’re going to have so much fun”.’
