When Johnnie Boden launched his eponymous label from his living room floor in 1991, we wonder if he knew that it would become the icon of true British style that it is today?
Did he know that he’d go on for the next 30 years to sell to 11.5 million stylish customers in 145 countries? Because that's exactly what happened.
Boden turns 30 this September and what better way to celebrate than with a stunning capsule collection inspired by some of the most-loved pieces from the brand’s last three decades?
The in-house design team delved into Boden’s extensive archive and early catalogues to find the most popular and best-selling pieces from its history. And they’ve reimagined them for the Boden customer of today.
Think stunning prints with a bohemian vibe, knitwear decorated with cute floral motifs, classic stripes, colourful outerwear, and luxe partywear that can take you from the dance floor to the bedroom.
Fronting the capsule collection, they enlisted Jean Campbell, who made her modelling debut for Mini Boden at the age of four. This gorgeous campaign was photographed in the very same Scottish Highlands location where she was photographed 20 years ago.
From the coat Campbell wears in the campaign to a pyjama shirt that we’ll be wearing endlessly come party season, here are some of our favourite pieces from Boden’s beautiful birthday collection...
Magnificent Magenta
What do you get if you cross velvet with a wide leg and stunning shade of pink? You get these Alexia trousers and they’ve just made our autumn wardrobe. We can see these with a cosy jumper when we’re out for a pub roast or glammed up with heels and silky shirt when those cocktails are calling.
Chevron Chic
You can't go wrong with a chevron, especially when it comes in this multicoloured pattern. The Anna jumper is bound to bring a bit of fun into your cold-weather wardrobe, and that's never a bad thing.
Rain, rain, don’t go away
In a surprising turn of events, we won’t be wishing/praying/hoping for those sunny days when we’ve got this Morris waterproof mac. As far as we’re concerned, it can rain every day (which we can rely on the British weather to do) as long as we get to wear this little colour-blocked number.
Florals for autumn? Ground-breaking
From the classic cable knit to the ribbed panels to the colourful and cute knitted flowers, everything about this Reena tank top is perfection. We’d pair it with wide leg tailored trousers for that slightly androgynous look. Actually, it’d look incredible with those aforementioned Alexia trousers.
Pyjama Perfection
What is it about nightwear worn as partywear that just makes it look just so glamorous? Maybe on this Zena shirt it’s the sumptuous blue velvet and the gold piping. Whatever it is, we love it, and we also love that it comes with matching trousers.
Read between these lines
There will never be a time when Breton stripes are not stylish, and this Sophie top is a prime example of why. You’ll find yourself turning to this top time and time again, whether it’s morning coffee with your friends or days at the beach with the family, and no matter what you pair it with, it’ll always look chic.
Frill Seeker
Why wear a simple cardigan when you can wear this Jessica cardigan, replete with pretty frills along the neckline, the placket, and cuffs? And it's so versatile! Wear it on it's own as a top (very on trend) or layer it with another jumper when those colder nights come in.
Dusty and Demure
Take a dusty pink dress, give it a stunning print, ruffled neckline, and a belted waistline, and you’ve got the Mariam. Elegant, sophisticated, and pretty, she’s just the dress for those celebratory dinners and special occasion gatherings!
