Monday morning is barely underway and already the royals are on duty in their finest finery. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are joining a number of world leaders in Belgium today to mark the 100th anniversary of the First World War. The event, held at the Saint-Laurent Abbey in Liege, is just one of a number of ceremonies and William and Kate are there to represent the Queen.

The pair were greeted early this morning by King Philippe and his wife, Queen Mathilde of Belgium. In recognition of her senior status, Kate curtesied to Queen Mathilde, which resulted inthis excellent Twitter pic. Prince William spoke at the ceremony, saying: 'Among the very first victims were the people of Belgium, whose resistance was as gallant as their suffering was great.' He added that Britain owes a great debt of gratitude to Belgium for its fortitude during the 1914-1918 war.

The Duchess is wearing an Alexander McQueen cream coat dress for the occasion. It's accented with a pleated skirt, long sleeves, dropped waist and an adorable Peter Pan collar. She's topped off the look with a matching hat with adorned with dusty pink roses by Jane Taylor and, of course, her favourite pair of LK Bennett heels.
