So that's it, the three-day royal tour of New York has come to an end. It was expected that the literal dresser Kate Middleton would opt for American designers on this trip, but she has flown the flag for Britain via her coat collection.
We thought she would look like a walking Ralph Lauren ad, but instead it was business as usual with Mulberry, Jenny Packham and Seraphine. We break down all of the Duchess' looks below...
1. Mulberry
10th December:
Kate and Wills visited the National September 11th Memorial and Museum, where the Duchess laid white roses next to one of the pools. The note alongside the flowers read "In sorrowful memory of those who died on 11th September and in admiration of the courage shown to rebuild, William, Catherine." They then visited two youth programmes - the Door and the City Kids Foundation.
For both engagements Kate wore a bright pink Mulberry double breasted coat with black buttons. This was available (pre-Kate) on Mulberry's website for £1,500, but it has already sold out in all sizes.
2. Seraphine
10th December:
The couple then attended a Creativity is GREAT reception celebrating British creativity where the Duchess wore a black high-neck dress with an empire waist by British maternity label Seraphine. It is currently available online for £59. This is the second time she has worn this label on this trip, as she arrived in a burgundy coat by Seraphine. K Middy paired her black dress with her long Cartier necklace which features circles of pink, yellow and white gold set with diamonds.
At the event Kate met J Crew's Jenna Lyons and judging by her grin she is a fan of jewel-encrusted sweaters and J Crew prints. Jenna said to Vanity Fair of meeting Kate: “My father’s British so I grew up going to England every summer and sometimes for Christmas. I will say, it feels very powerful [meeting Kate]. I can imagine for her, she’s just a normal person—but it doesn’t feel like that to me. She’s, in essence, a true version of a princess. She’s lovely, gracious. It was incredibly exciting.” She said of her wearing J Crew: “Believe it or not, I was told she wore J. Crew jeans last night to the game,” she said. “I was so excited. You couldn’t tell, but that’s okay. At least I know that fact.”
3. Jenny Packham
10th December:
The couple ended their trip with a black tie gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. How very Gossip Girl of them. The event tied in with St Andrews University's 600th anniversary - this is of course where Kate and Wills met. During William's speech he said: “I don’t need to tell you how much Saint Andrews means to me and Catherine.”
The Duchess re-wore her midnight Jenny Packham gown which has a deep V neckline and short off-the-shoulder sleeves. She has worn this gown on two previous occasions, however she did debut some new diamonds. Kate brought the sparkle with her diamond and emerald drop chandelier earrings and matching bracelet.
4. Tory Burch
8th December:
On Monday evening Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge watched the Brooklyn Nets and Cleveland Cavaliers play at the Staples Center. Before heading to the game the royal couple attended a reception at the British Consul General's residence celebrating Prince William's work with the charities United for Wildlife and the Tusk Trust.
For both events Kate, who is five months pregnant, wore a grey Boucle 'Bettina' coat by American label Tory Burch which is available for £480. She wore it with J Crew skinny jeans, a black Mulberry clutch and Stuart Weitzman black pumps.
5. Goat
* *
8th December
On Monday Prince William flew to Washington to meet President Obama and deliver a key-note speech on wildlife. Meanwhile the Duchess stayed in New York and made a solo visit to the Northside Center for Child Development in Harlem. Kate wore a classic black collarless coat by British label Goat with cream trims on the cuff, back and neckline. The coat is worth £680 and copy Kates will be glad to hear that this style is available to buy now (at the time of typing) onMatches Fashion
6. Seraphine
On Sunday evening Kate and Wills arrived at the Carlyle Hotel in New York. K Middy wore a burgundy custom boucle 'Marina' coat by maternity label Seraphine. The label was founded byFrench designer Cecile Reinaud and is all about K Middy style dresses with flattering empire line and draping.* *
