Don’t you just love this jolly muggy weather we are experiencing at the moment. It really fills us with the joys of summer. NAWT. Thanks Mother Nature for reeking havoc with our wardrobe and throwing our summer style into absolute turmoil. How are we supposed to get dressed in the morning? How do you master a heat friendly on trend look OR do we delve into autumnal attire already? Well ladies, you aren’t the only ones suffering from these clothing conundrums. Here are the 6 most common mistakes and how to solve them…

1. Don’t Go For Shorts, Culottes Are THE One

Whilst the skies aren’t screaming summer but the temperature is, it’s tempting to still whack on a pair of shorts. The problem is when the heavens open and you are left trundling down the high street in gladiator sandals, shorts and sans umbrella you feel, to put it bluntly, like an absolute idiot. Culottes are the solution, still very summer friendly AND with a cracking bit of ventilation. Plus it’s on trend: You. Are. Welcome. Want to splurge? Go for the pale pink culottes from Roksanda or go more formal with office friendly culottes from Topshop.

2. Steer Clear Of Suede Jackets And Go For Boxy Denim

We all know that the suede trend is one step away from sweatsville...

Who ever decided suede was the thing for summer was playing one sick joke on us. You stick on a bit of suede either sueden a jacket or a button-down skirt form and suddenly you are left feeling hot, annoyed and inevitably sweaty. Instead take a tip from the autumn trends ahead and whack on a wham worthy 80s denim jacket. Big enough to feel breezy and cool enough to combat the heat. Win. Win.

3. Avoid Clingy Sleeves and Put On A Peasant Blouse/Dress

The cult Vita Kin dress is THE muggy weather solution

You didn’t want to wear a jacket did you and so you put on a nice long sleeved clingy top instead and as you are reading this you were perspiring, right? Well the solution is simple: long sleeves are still doable if you supersize those sleeves and opt for a peasant blouse, the above Oasis number is a winner. OR take a tip from blogger Pandora Sykes and opt for a sundress with super sleeves. Again extra, very necessary, ventilation!

4. Ditch Skinny Legs In Favour Of Slouchy Suiting

Swagger around in slouchy pants, sisters!

Fallen into the trap of delving into your denim skinnies or flares? Go for a nice slouchy, light cotton trouser, they will give you coverage and cool you down at the same time. Double the fun!

5. Waterproof Make Up Is A Big No

Don't worry, we have all been there!

Waterproof products are not going to save you in this climate as they are sadly not oil proof. So if you are wearing concealer close to your lash line then your mascara is still going to smudge, as the oil from your cover-up will break it down… causing you to have a break down too. Mineral products are the way to go, as you can even blot them onto your skin when sweating and it won’t go streaky.

6. Say Farewell To Frizzy Hair…

Your frizzy hair solution is HERE!

Here is a mini science lesson for those not in the know: frizziness occurs when moisture gets into your hair cuticle. To prevent this ladies you have got to seal that cuticle! Serums or anti-humidity hairsprays are your saviors here. Spray some hair spray onto your hand and brush it through your mane OR alternatively keep Kérastase Elixir Ultime Serum Solide to hand. It's a mini pot of solid serum, only about the size of a pot of lip balm, so you can stash it in your handbag to tame on-the-move.
