Marques'Almeida's shredded denim has become something of a FROW phenomenon

It’s not that denim jackets really ever went out of fashion per se, it’s just that for a long time this – maybe underrated – wardrobe staple has languished at the back of your closet, waiting for a festival fashion meltdown. With denim firmly planted on spring/summer’s radar, its many guises have created comebacks and the most significantly is the denim jacket. It’s returned as a shoulder-rober, a layering tool, a statement (see Gap’s mega turn-ups or Marques’Almeida shredded kimono-styles) and some girls are even ditching tops altogether, wearing these jackets buttoned ups like a kind of alt-shirt.

Last week Lily Aldridge – who has designed one in her first fashion collection for Velvet by Graham and Spencer – stated that she thinks it’s the one piece every girl should own and that the fit of hers is perfect. We can confirm after trying one of these ‘Ash’ numbers on in the Grazia office – it really does look chic, cropped above the hips and slim-cut.

You can scroll through the gallery above to see how some of the most trail-blazer fashion lovers – like bloggers Leandra Medine and Sandra Hagelstam – plus industry influencers – see Jenna Lyons and Chloe Sevigny – have chosen to wear their jean jackets. There’s a whopping 21 ways to do it – so which one will you try first?
