Prepare to hear a LOT about Dakota Johnson, as she embarks on the promo tour for Fifty Shades of Grey ahead of its Valentine's Day release. There have been no reviews of her performance just yet, but she is already getting the thumbs up from the gatekeepers of the fashion industry.
Firstly she was dressed by Chanel to the Golden Globes. Now she's got Anna Wintour behind her. Last night Dakota's first ever American Voguecover, photographed by Mario Testino, leaked online.
In the cover image the fringed beauty wears an embellished navy dress and appears alongside the strap line: "100 million fans, one breakout star."
In the accompanying interview Dakota says: “I think about my dwindling anonymity and that’s really scary because a very large part of me would be perfectly happy living on a ranch in Colorado and having babies and chickens and horses—which I will do anyway.” She added: “I wanted to be involved because it’s so different and it’s an intense love story.”
In the Mario Testino editorial Dakota wears a cream short-sleeved Derek Lam cashmere top with black tim, paired with black Bottega Venta shorts. She also wears a Nina Ricci red knit, a fringed Proenza Schouler dress and Carven colour-blocking shift.
Dakota reveals that she's already started working on her promo tour wardrobe with stylist Kate Youn. She explains: “We’re buddies—we like to hang out—and we come up with cool stuff together."
Dakota also stars in aVogue original short film to accompany the cover, where she lounges in her dressing room rollers-in, slippers-on with absolutely no intention of being "just a minute." We've all been there Dakota.
