CONFIRMED: Angelina Jolie Did Wear Versace On Her Wedding Day

When predictions on who designed Angelina Jolie's wedding dress were swirling, our bets were on Versace - and true to form, it's been confirmed that the bride did turn to her favourite fashion house for the Big Day.

'Versace is honoured to announce that on August 23rd 2014 Angelina Jolie chose to wear a stunning Atelier Versace creation designed by Donatella Versace in occasion of her marriage to Brad Pitt,' reads a press release (accompanied by gorgeous sketch) that just landed in our inbox. In the release they write that Angelina also wore a pair of white Versace satin pumps to match her white silk-satin Versace gown.

We're told that Donatella Versace envisioned 'a one of a kind custom-made Atelier Versace look' for the beautiful bride and 'she was perfect' in a white silk-satin gown gathered at the bust. She topped off the stunning creation with a pair of white Versace silk satin pumps.

But it's that elongated train which truly marks out the bridal look - the back of the dress is covered with the embroidered drawings of Angie's children, which also got reproduced on the silk veil. How fabulous!

28 August 2014: Angelina's Wedding Dress Was 'Very Traditional'

New details have emerged which confirm that Angelina Jolie DID wear a white dress on her wedding day. A source tells* E! News*that the gown was "very traditional, but very Angie, it was comfortable but plain white floor-length antique lace and silk." The designer still hasn't been confirmed, however.

As for accessories, the actress "definitely wore something that once belonged to [her mother] Marcheline Bertrand. A small gold locket with a photo of her mom inside it." She also "had a veil," and when "Brad lifted it [he] gasped because she looked so stunning."

Details have emerged about the rest of the wedding party too. "The boys all wore tiny matching cream linen suits which were just like Brad's [tux] while the girls had each chosen a dress to match their own individual style and they had them specially made."

28 August 2014: So Who Designed Angelina's Wedding Dress?

****After what feels like an eternity, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have officially become Brangelina! The couple are finally Mr and Mrs Jolie-Pitt. Aside from the general excitement over our favourite Hollywood power couple finally tying the knot and the questions over what role their band of children played of course the thing we all want to know is… WHO designed the dress? Here are the clothing contenders...

VERSACE

Since last year Angelina has worn exclusively Atelier Versace on the red carpet, when she's not in Saint Laurent that is. At present our fashion funds are placed on Angelina being a Versace vision, especially if her red carpet record for her promotional tour for Maleficent is anything to go by.

From the world premiere in LA where the Oscar winner wore a black ruberised silk strapless dress, gathered at the hip to the black backless gown that was dripping in Swarovski crystals which she wore to the London private screening, Versace was Angelina’s go-to. With a variety of Versace numbers already gracing Angelina’s fashionable frame, the style of the dress is anyone’s guess.

SAINT LAURENT

Angelina is the definition of a Hollywood rebel, so if the now Mrs Jolie-Pitt decided to go off-piste and take on a tuxedo for her big day her designer of choice would be Hedi Slimane at Saint Laurent. Arguably Angie’s look of the year was the Saint Laurent tuxedo she wore to the BAFTA awards, so why wouldn’t she adopt a bit of androgyny for her big day?

We can reveal that one of the outside bets, Elie Saab, who Angelina wore to this year’s Oscars, did not design Angelina’s dress - a spokesperson for the brand just confirmed to* Grazia Daily*. Another name being thrown in the ring is L'Wren Scott, previous reports have suggested that the late designer was working on the actress' gown prior to her death.

With the details on the dress still sparse, we wouldn't count out Ange resurrecting the wedding dress she wore in Mr and Mrs Smith. Another suggestion doing the rounds is that the bride may have chosen to pay tribute to her late mother who died in 2007 by wearing her wedding dress. ****
