It looks like the government won't be removing all lockdown restrictions on June 21 but, as we wait to hear exactly what to expect when Boris Johnson makes his announcement later today, there are at least some things we're able to enjoy at the moment. One of them is the Euro 2020 tournament (confusingly held in 2021), which might help to bring some distraction from the government's roadmap.
If you're not a football fan, strictly speaking, you might enjoy other Euro-related activities, such as observing the outlandish wardrobes of the players' WAGS. This, in itself, became something of a national sport in 2006 when the likes of Victoria Beckham, Cheryl , Coleen Rooney and Alex Curran descended on Baden-Baden for the World Cup.
They were a tornado of glitz, hotpants, big hair and even bigger heels, inspiring hundreds of tabloid reports on their alleged spending sprees and wild nights out. As we've all been starved of such life in the past year, you might think that the Euros might offer exactly what we all need: a bit of fun, courtesy of the WAGs. But so far? So far it's not looking like we'll see a repeat of 2006.
Instead, Coleen Rooney (admittedly not the wife or girlfriend of a current player but let's not split hairs) joined her husband Wayne to support England as they played Croatia at the weekend. What did she wear? It's... a top from River Island.
Yes, Coleen – once a member of the group accused of spending £57,000 in just one hour – wore a £28 blouse with her denim shorts. It's still available to buy and comes in red and white – handy, if you're supporting England.
