Maybe you're a silk robe and slippers kind of gal. Or, perhaps, a frilly-necked frock and ballet pumps is more your vibe. Whatever you choose to wear on Christmas Day, a little outfit inspo from the fashion set can't hurt. Warning - the below doesn't contain any pudding-shaped earrings or turkey hats.

Veronika Heilbrunner, influencer

‘I’m having a very tartan season so will go all out on Christmas Day. I’ll wake up in tartan PJs and then change into my tartan pleated miniskirt from Ralph Lauren with a Uniqlo wool turtleneck, black tights and riding boots. For outdoor activities, I’ll add my shearling coat from Coach. For Christmas Eve, I’ll go very festive. I already have the perfect piece. It’s a silver mesh wrap-skirt with lace from Christopher Kane.’

Maria Black, jeweller

‘I used to insist on fluffy Christmas jumpers for the ‘hygge’ effect. As it turns out, 10 people and steaming duck in a small flat generate a lot of heat. This year, I’m opting for a loose-fitting navy dress with white polka dots. It has to withstand tree-dancing, unwrapping and dubious amounts of food. My jewellery is important. I wear smaller earrings to avoid engaging in epic battles with scarves and sweaters, but the cling/clack sounds from my arm stack will chime nicely with Christmas carols.’

‘I want to be comfortable, chic and, of course, festive. I’ll probably opt for a jewel-toned velvet or satin dress by Materiel, a brand which has produced beautiful and exclusive party pieces for Net-a-Porter, then a super cosy Brunello Cuccinelli cashmere sweater or fun PJs by Olivia von Halle.’

‘Christmas is my all-time favorite holiday. Whether I’m hosting family and friends or being, it’s always a big party. I’m either in something sparkly, usually a dress, or my failsafe - a fabulous voluminous top paired with jeans.’

Heather Gramston, buying manager at Browns Fashion

‘I don’t personally own a printed Christmas jumper, it’s the perfect moment to get cosy in luxe, heavy-gauge cashmere and loungewear from Khaite or The Elder Statesman. On the other end of the spectrum, if you’re into dressing up for the occasion, I would invest in a statement dress from Rotate or The Vampire’s Wife.’
