We’ve all been in the situation when we’ve been desperate for a piece but we don't know where it's from - or we do know but it's out of stock (or too expensive) - and wished that somewhere had something similar. Well now, frockadvisor is here to save the day.
The new app, created by Brendan Courtney and Sonya Lennon, allows users to post a photo of something they want and boutiques around the country respond by sending a photo of similar things that they have in stock. Genius!
To celebrate the app’s launch in the UK, Brendan and Sonya have declared May 28 ‘Fashion Independent's Day’ and will be holding the world's first ever Fashion Grand Prix to mark the occasion. Ten of London’s most influential fashion crusaders will be racing across London, calling into as many boutiques as possible and taking selfies along the way, of course. Whoever trends highest on social media will be declared the winner.
Caroline Rush, Chief Executive of the British Fashion Council, commented: “There are hundreds of independent retailers across the country that are not only responsible for supporting British design talent but in some cases are the launch pads for the success of some of these businesses.
“The support of campaigns like frockadvisor’s - Fashion Independents’ Day shine the spotlight on the importance of the independent retail sector by driving awareness and sales for the businesses at the heart of its success. We very much hope that across London consumers will fly the flag for British fashion by joining the campaign on May 28 both in person at their favourite boutiques and online by using the hashtag #FIDAY.”
David Slater, Director of International Business Development at London & Partners, added: “London is one of the world’s leading cities for fashion, and it is great to see that innovative companies like frockadvisor are marrying fashion expertise with new technology to create a unique experience for consumers.”
frockadvisor is available on the Apple and Android marker and is free to download.
