Cara Delevingne has spoken out about why she’s taken a break from modelling to concentrate on her acting career. The 22 year old said the fashion industry made her feel ‘empty’ because it was all about ‘creating pretty things.’

Cara’s rise in the fashion industry began back in 2009 when she signed with Storm Model Management. After campaigns for Yves Saint Laurent, Chanel and Burberry, she was named ‘Model of the Year’ in 2012 and 2014. But lately, Cara has been spending a lot more time on movie sets than the catwalk.

‘I ended up feeling a bit empty. Fashion is about what's on the outside, and that's it. There's no searching, it's just creating pretty things.’ She told Wall Street Journal.

The model claims that she's been wanting to act for a long time but found it hard to break the industry. ‘I basically gave up on acting, because trying to get an agent was impossible. Everyone said, 'You're just a model' ... once I had my mind set that I was going to do this modelling thing, I really wanted to beat it, if that makes sense. Win it.’

After a small part in ‘Anna Karenina’, she landed a role in ‘The Face of an Angel’ and ever since then she’s been working on various projects, with 5 films coming out in 2015 including the adaptation of John Green’s ‘Paper Towns’ and fantasy film ‘Pan.’ And she’s been under pressure to deliver: ‘I don't want to be that cliché: model-slash-actress. People are going to judge it so harshly that I think it has to be amazing.’
