While we were all tucked up snoozing last night, across the pond, Hollywood was out in full force for the highly anticipated Golden Globes Awards. That's right, awards season is on us once again, and for beauty lovers everywhere, it's the beginning of a good few weeks of serious hair and makeup envy.

Having spent a fair amount of time poring over last night’s pictures this morning, it's tricky to pick a favourite beauty look when there were so many excellent efforts - Sienna Miller is still making that messy, tousled bob work for her, while Kerry Washington looked unbelievably radiant with her glowing complexion and pinky lip. If there's one thing we can take away from all the looks, it's that many of our favourite A-Listers don't particularly like to play by the rules.

Best Golden Globes Beauty

Chrissy Teigan1 of 16

Chrissy Teigan

A gorgeous glowing complexion and a nude lip compliment Chrissy's beachy waves beautifully.

Jessica Chastain2 of 16

Jessica Chastain

We love Jessica's sideswept big curls and bronze-toned smokey eye - YSL makeup artist Kristofer Buckle used Touche Eclat foundation and the illuminating pen, as well as the YSL Couture Palettes No.1 and No.3, finished with a slick of Volupte Sheer Candy Lipstick No.1 on top.

Sienna Miller3 of 16

Sienna Miller

The slept-in, messy bob is a great offset to Sienna's feminine makeup and pretty dress.

Helen Millen4 of 16

Helen Millen

A pinky-red lip and immaculate skin for the new L'Oreal ambassador.

Katie Holmes5 of 16

Katie Holmes

Serious hair envy here - look at that long, strong, shiny ponytail! Two thumbs also for Katie's grey, soft smokey eye.

Rosamund Pike6 of 16

Rosamund Pike

Proving lip gloss isn't just for beginners - Rosamund look icy-cool with her metallic makeup and sleek bob.

Anna Faris7 of 16

Anna Faris

We love the unexpected bronze tone on Anna's lower lashline - it's a great way to modernise your smokey eye.

Lupita Nyong'o8 of 16

Lupita Nyong'o

This girl can do no wrong - her lilac-toned eyes are gorgeous, as well as her elegant hair 'do.

Jennifer Aniston9 of 16

Jennifer Aniston

Jen with an updo is a rare sight, but we're seriously into it. Plus, look at those lashes!

Amal Clooney10 of 16

Amal Clooney

Seriously radiant - beautiful loose locks and a bold lip make for a killer combination.

Salma Hayek11 of 16

Salma Hayek

Salma manages to make a flower in the hair look elegant and refined - thanks to her barely-there lip colour and soft blush. We love her bouncy curls, too.

Kerry Washington12 of 16

Kerry Washington

Seriously, where does Kerry get that glow? Bonus points for her sexy, super lash-y eyes and pretty pink pout.

Anna Kendrick13 of 16

Anna Kendrick

Anna looks like a painting - her dewy skin and soft blush give her a lit-from-within glow.

Ellie Kemper14 of 16

Ellie Kemper

A masterclass in red lips for redheads - also, Ellie proves brows don't have to be bold to be beautiful.

Kate Hudson15 of 16

Kate Hudson

A ballerina bun and pale eyeshadow means Kate's nailing winter whites.

Clare Danes16 of 16

Clare Danes

NARS makeup artist Matin used their Dual Intensity Eyeshadow in Giove, as well as the Eyeliner Pencil in Kaliste to get tie Clare's eye makeup in with the beading on her dress.

Sure, there were stars with red carpet ready starlet ringlets and scarlet pouts, but we also witnessed an abundance of modern mussed-up 'dos, barely-there makeup and a strong penchant for metallic eye colours – a trend which popped up on this season’s catwalks at Julian MacDonald and Issey Miyake. There’s definitely a place in awards season for classic Hollywood glamour, but it’s great to see the A List try the catwalk trends for us too.

Jessica Chastain and Anna Faris made it their mission to champion bronze, while Anna Kendrick highlighted the inner corner of her eyes with glistening white . Kudos also to Chrissy Teigan who side-stepped the smokey eye altogether and went for a more pared-back, glowing look. And how much do you love Jennifer Aniston’s ballet bun? It's refreshing to see our favourite stars bringing the season’s hottest catwalk trends to the red carpet this time around.
