The Awards Season Dress Code: Our Guide To Looking The Part On The Red Carpet

Awards season is now in full swing. Just in case the likes of Emma Stone are reading Grazia Daily in a pickle about what on earth they should wear, here is our Official Awards Season Dress Code. Things get serious at the Academy Awards - this is probably the only place in Hollywood where flashing a leg (cough Angelina Jolie) will cause hysteria. So here are our Awards Season rules...

** 1. The Brits: All that glitters**

Think... The final of *Strictly Come Dancing. *When you leave the house, add another layer of sparkle.

Carry***...***** ** A Berocca - the Brits gets boozy.*

**Avoid... **A little black dress, lilac lipstick and Alex Turner.

** 2. The Oscars: If you can't wear a princess dress to the Oscars when can you?!**

**Think... **Big and frothy.

**Carry... **The train of your gown.

**Avoid... **Anything flashing your ankle. This is the Oscars, you want to drown in fabric.

3. The Golden Globes: Hollywood glamour with an edge

Think... Ask yourself, 'What would Lupita do?' This is the place to show your fashion IQ.

Carry... A statement clutch. Or your Louboutins and a martini like Emma Thompson.

Avoid... A Lara Flynn Boyle tutu. You still want to look good.

** 4. NME awards: Wear all black everything (unless you're Lily Allen)**

**Think... **Haim, not Girls Aloud.

**Carry... A slice of Dominos and shot of tequila.

**Avoid... **Being the girl wearing fake tan.

5. BAFTAs: Get the London look

Think... London, not Hollywood. Wear a suit like Angie... dye your hair pink like Helen Mirren... just don't look like you're going to prom.

Carry... An umbrella.

Avoid... Hollywood styling and the mani-cam. You're way too cool for that.

6. SAG Awards: Go for a simple silhouette

Think... Strapless. You won't go wrong with a column silhouette.

Carry... Your business card. This is a place you can network.

Avoid... No tulle. No froth. No trains. What do you think this is, the Oscars?

7. The Grammys: There is no such thing as OTT

Think: VIRAL. This is where Gaga walked the red carpet in an egg.

Carry: A hot water bottle. If you're at the Grammys chances are you aren't wearing any clothes.

Avoid: The official Dress Code. No nipples? No bum-flashing? As if!
