It’s official: autumn is here, and suddenly everything is brown. And I mean everything, from rust coats to caramel knits to chocolate bags. I’ve been waiting all year for this moment. Brown isn’t just a colour, it’s a mood, and 2025 is all about it. Pantone’s Colour of the Year, Mocha Mousse, is basically a green light to go full cocoa-toned this season. The most subtle, yet covetable, way this trend is creeping into wardrobes? Brown trainers.

Prada’s version might be all over Instagram, but the high street has delivered, too, with this designer-inspired M&S pair, which, unfortunately, sold out just this morning. The brand nails that perfect balance of laid-back cool and that little touch of sophistication we all want.

Trainers have been chic for a few seasons now, but brown suede brings a whole new level of luxe. Remember the Miu Miu x New Balance collab? Sold out in seconds. And Steve Madden has jumped on the bandwagon, too, with a camel suede pair finished with green laces a la Miu Miu, which, if you’re up for a DIY moment, our very own Harriet Davey has a clever styling hack you’ll want to try.

If you’re still not convinced by the trend, Grazia’s editor-in-chief, Hattie Brett, is living in her COS suede trainers, proving this isn’t just a fleeting moment, but the autumn staple. Take notes from Hattie, who styled her brown pair with a monochrome black outfit topped with a brown overshirt from With Nothing Underneath, perfectly matching the trainers.

From latte shades to deep chocolate, every shade of brown trainer is fair game this season, and if there’s one piece that could instantly make your wardrobe feel fall-ready, it’s this.

Marks & Spencer

A modern spin on the retro runner, these suede M&S trainers come with a contrast stripe and saw-tooth edging that give them a luxe, designer feel. The kind of throw-on-and-go shoe that makes even your simplest outfits look instantly on trend. Currently out of stock, but I'm crossing my fingers (and adding to my wishlist for the all-important notification) that they'll be available again soon.

Steve Madden

These trainers are a brilliant alternative to the £870 Miu Miu version, serving up the same autumn-ready suede vibe for a fraction of the price. We’re especially into the retro runner details and that camel-and-green combo, which makes them the kind of shoe you’ll end up styling with everything.

Very much fashion editor-approved, COS’s suede trainers come in muted neutrals like navy, cappuccino, and mocha, as well as statement shades of red and green.

The retro-inspired adidas Spezial is one of the hardest-working trainers out there, working just as well for a tailored casual look as it does with athleisure and midi dresses.

I have to admit, I’m really tempted by this Gola pair. The dark brown suede and bullet silhouette feel just right, not too casual, not too flashy, and those little gold details? I can already see myself styling them with all my favourite gold accessories I never leave the house without.

Jacquemus

If you’re a fan of Jacquemus, you’ll be pleased to see the brand has embraced the brown suede trainer trend, with its own unmistakable French-cool twist. Croc-effect suede and subtle logo embossing on the heel tab elevate the classic Tennis silhouette, giving it that effortless, nonchalant French-girl vibe we all aspire to.

H&M

These low-profile suede trainers are super easy to wear. Front laces, a fold-down heel tab, and mesh insoles make them comfy enough for all-day wear. We’ve been loving them with an oversized jacket and high socks, or tucked under straight-leg jeans with a cosy jumper.

Alohas

Barcelona-based Alohas is fairly new to the UK, but the Tb.490 sneaker is already turning heads. With suede and leather details, a low-top shape, rubber soles, and subtle perforations, it’s a solid, easy-to-wear choice.

Mango
Price: $45.99 (was £89.99)

A darker brown option with suede panels and a contrasting stripe, these trainers have a retro tennis vibe that works perfectly for everyday outfits. Pair them with tailored trousers and a casual tee, or with cropped jeans and a chunky knit.

New Look

This pair is giving serious cool-girl energy. With a sporty silhouette, stitched panelling, and a tonal rubber outsole, they’re totally wearable for everyday use. Note, this pair is made from real leather and with that price? We’re completely sold.
