It bags dip in and out of fashion - and for this spring, a '00s classic that you might remember from back in the day has been given something of a 2025 glow-up: the bowling bag. Shaped like a tote but with edges that curve, and traditionally given a pair of top handles, it's got retro flavour while being pleasingly roomy. This season, however, there's only one version of this reboot you'll want in the crook of your arm.

COS's Studio Bowling Bag has been so popular of late, searches for it have climbed up by 300% in the past three months alone. It is available in a range of delectable suedes and leathers, as well as two different sizes - one that's approaching a weekend bag in dimensions and one that's more ladies who lunch. The bigger version in chocolate brown suede has been spotted on influencers and Instagrammers, riffing on the logoless, quiet luxury bags made famous by The Row.

The bowling bag's rounded shape is catching. At Jacquemus's show earlier this year in Paris, it appeared on the catwalk in various fabrications but usually adorned with a pair of gloves, a baseball cap or a banana-shaped bag charm (cute). The Turismo, as it's called, is one of the brand's most 'grown up' bags, the kind you wear to semaphore a sense of pulled-togetherness (even when you're feeling anything but).

The high street has similarly welcomed the bowling shape back into the fold ahead of spring, with practical takes at H&M, J.Crew and Me+Em. & Other Stories has a smaller version available in burgundy vinyl, black leather and leopard-print, with longer straps so it can function as a shoulder bag.

Unlike the loud bowling bags of the early 2000s, this season's take is subtle, more often than not in butter-soft suede. The good news? It'll never go out of style.
