It's official, a Cumberbaby is on its way. Benedict Cumberbatch has confirmed that his fiance Sophie Hunter is pregnant with their first child.
The star's publicist said in a statement: “I am delighted to confirm that Benedict Cumberbatch and Sophie Hunter are expecting their first child. They are both over the moon.”
The couple announced their engagement in* The Times* on the 5th November last year. _The New York Pos_t's Page Six reports that they are "planning to marry in early Spring."
The 38-year-old actor has previously commented how his mother is desperate for him to start a family, as when asked whether he is planning on having children he replied: "Oh, my God. Well, my mother is also waiting for Cumberbabies."
We can expect to see a lot of the couple on the red carpet over the next few weeks, as Benedict is nominated for his performance as Alan Turing in *The Imitation Game. *
The couple attended the Palm Springs Festival together this weekend, where Sophie wore a flowing Just Cavalli gown. When asked at the event if he was planning their wedding yet Benedict said: "One thing at a time! I'm playing Sherlock now. My main focus is going to be on that, and then [awards season] is just sort of a wonderful burst of manic crazy fresh air in the midst of it all."
