Grazia Daily: The word DUFF has some negative connotations, how in the film are you turning this on it's head?

Bella: "Everybody says this, don't get your knickers in a twist. This is high school, high school is mean, news flash. If we dumbed down high school to fit for the big screen it wouldn't been realistic. Everyone wants to turn their eye to the bullying and everything that goes on nowadays in school and that's just not acceptable because it is what it is. It happens. The DUFF - everybody is a DUFF. I'm a DUFF, you're a DUFF, we all have a DUFF. They honestly are just a few letters thrown together that make that word. There is always going to be someone richer than you, always someone smarter than you, more athletic than you, more beautiful than you. That's the way the world works."

Grazia Daily: Kylie Jenner got some criticism for wearing 'I'm somebody's DUFF t shirt - what do you think about that?

Bella: "She's beautiful so yes a beautiful girl wearing an 'I'm the DUFF shirt' turns it on its head because people think it's just about looks and it's not."

Grazia Daily: Who's the most surprising person who has said to you 'I'm a DUFF'?

Bella: "Ermm, Seth MacFarlane! He's so funny and so talented and so creative and such an amazing guy. Him talking about the film was amazing."

Grazia Daily: What was it like playing a mean girl?

Bella: "It was definitely interesting. It's hard because I love making people laugh and that's what I want to do every day, I love making people smile. Being the only character in the film that doesn't do that and isn't funny, was a little tough. Especially when you're with Mae and Robbie who are making jokes 24/7 and are so funny and getting all the laughs, it's like 'aww I want to be funny, why am I so mean in this film, can't we have anything likeable about my character please?'

Grazia Daily: Would you ever feel bad on set?

Bella: "No because we all know it's just a character and there's nothing to it and I LOVE Mae. I have a serious girl crush on her and she's a little freaked out by it. They all know that's not me at all."

Grazia Daily: Who's your favourite Mean Girl?

Bella: "Rose McGowan in Jawbreaker"

Grazia Daily: Did you take any inspiration from any other mean girls for your character?

Bella: "Rose McGown is the one because every other film that talks about mean girls - it's the dumb blonde, that's pretty with the big boobs and doesn't know what she's doing, with the Valley girl accent. That's so not this character and we wanted to make sure that Madison is anything but that. She's a more realistic high school villian, because those girls are smart and they know what they're doing. You're not afraid of them because they're dumb and ditsy and pretty, looks aren't everything in the world. You're afraid of them because they are smart and know what they are doing."

Grazia Daily: Teen movies often get compared against each other, how do you think this is different from other ones?

Bella: "This message is very interesting - your whole entire life will be put in a box. I'm sure you have been, I have been my entire life. It's your job to prove them wrong and your job to say 'hey look, this is who I am and I'm going to show you."

Grazia Daily: So let's talking about fashion, do you get excited about choosing your wardrobe for a promo tour?

Bella: "I don't get that excited, just because I don't like trying on clothes. I love shoes and I love purses, but trying on clothes will be the death of me. I'm so lazy I don't like putting my hands over my head, that's the really biggest problem."

Grazia Daily: Do you try and have as few fittings as possible?

Bella: "Yeah and I'm like half way on my phone and half way trying something on."

Grazia Daily: Do you get excited about the red carpet or nervous?

**Bella: **"I don't get nervous because I've done quite a few of them. It's always different every carpet you step on and especially when it's your own movie it's nervous and exciting."
