Behold: Topshop’s Show-Stopping SS18 Collection

Topshop has just released their spring/summer 18 lookbook, and it’s safe to say we now know what we’ll be wearing this season. It’s a veritable checklist of prints and colours to lust after. From the graphic ‘70s style floral wallpaper print to the dresses that overdose on polka dots and a standout lemon mac, it makes the complex maximalist trends that ruled the catwalks instantly palatable.

Since last year a burgeoning ‘80s aesthetic has been staging a comeback. On the runways of Jacquemus, Tom Ford and Gucci the eccentric decade got an airing with dynasty-worthy hair, zany colour-clashes and ballsy polka dots. In keeping with its raison d'etre, Topshop has translated this trend into something infinitely wearable.

Also hooking onto the tartan trend of the season (as seen at Burberry, Balancing and Fendi) the high street favourite fashioned a paper-bag skirt and lightweight jacket out of clashing plaids. Not satisfied with tantalising us on only the mainstream look for spring, they’ve tapped into a niche runway trend: a-symmetric mules. Both Y/Projects and Yeezy through this curveball concept at us for spring, which sees a single big toe exposed and clasped by a leather strap. As doubtful as we were about this look catching on, now we’ve seen Topshop’s white block-heeled version we sold, hook, line, and sinker.

It’s not just the clothes we’re hooked on. For the model’s frizzy curls and tangerine lips are equally enticing. Best of all, they don’t cost a penny. While we wait for the new collection to drop in stores, introduce this fizzy new shade to your beauty routine and be set up for spring.
